Professional skin analysis with the Visia® Gen7

06.01.2022

We all want to grow as old as possible and look as young as possible at the same time. Nowadays, ageing cannot (yet) be prevented, but the signs of ageing can be slowed down very well.

Every person ages differently. This is due to our genes, but - scientifically proven - mainly to our lifestyle. This means that we can influence our ageing. After all, too much sun, smoking, alcohol, an unhealthy diet and stress can accelerate the ageing process.

Ageing process in phases

The skin slowly loses its elasticity from the age of 25. From around the age of 35, the skin is less able to bind moisture, collagen production decreases and wrinkles appear. At around the age of 45, the skin is less well supplied with blood, hormone levels drop in women, the skin becomes thinner and duller and the tissue sags. Fine lines become wrinkles. From around the age of 55, the skin becomes dry and thin. Wrinkles appear on the neck and décolleté.

The good news is that you can do something about it or even reverse some of the signs. For example, it is never too late to develop a healthy lifestyle. What's more, there is a huge range of skin rejuvenation treatments available today.

The VISIA®-Gen7 is an 18 megapixel camera. Every single detail of the skin is recognised from 3 different positions thanks to the extremely high resolution. This allows deficits to be visualised and treatment steps to be determined.

Skin analysis and customised treatment plan

But what does the skin really need? Which of the many treatments will achieve the best possible result? The skin analysis with the VISIA® Gen7 camera is ideal for finding this out. The rotating camera is equipped with 18 megapixels and enables standardised visual images to be taken from the left, right and front. It analyses the superficial skin texture and enables a deep skin analysis. This allows weak points in the skin to be identified and visualised.

The following eight features are analysed:

  1. Spots (brown and red spots)
  2. Wrinkles (mimic wrinkles or elastosis)
  3. Evenness of the skin
  4. Pores (number and size)
  5. UV damage under the skin surface
  6. Brown pigment spots
  7. Redness (increased blood circulation [inflammation] or blood vessels)
  8. Porphyrins (bacterial secretion), which can settle in pores and be associated with acne

After the analysis, a personalised treatment plan is drawn up based on the results of the analysis.

Treatment options vary between different laser therapies, PRP (platelet rich plasma), peels, microneedling, botulinum toxin A, mesotox (combination of microneedling and botulinum toxin A) and hyaluronic acid. This is rounded off with recommendations for care products for routine home care so that the results last as long as possible.

True age is determined

Determining the real skin age - True Skin Age - is another very impressive analysis option of the VISIA® camera. It compares the recorded facial image with the world's largest database in order to analyse the skin in comparison to other people of the same sex, age and skin type.

In the best case, the true skin age is younger than your real age. If not, don't worry, most damage can be reversed or at least improved with the right personalised treatment plan.

In addition, the VISIA® camera can be used to analyse the eyelashes. This is carried out before and after treatment with an eyelash serum. It checks whether the eyelash serum has the desired effect - longer and fuller eyelashes. Which is almost always the case.

The VISIA® skin analysis system goes into depth and can analyse the condition of the skin both on and below the surface. Among other things, sun damage can be visualised, signs of vascular diseases such as rosacea can be identified and existing porphyrins in deep layers of the skin (which can lead to acne) can be detected.

Preparation

In order for the analysis to be carried out correctly, the skin must be cleansed at least one hour before the analysis appointment. The skin must be free of make-up, sun cream and day cream. The analysis itself takes about 15 minutes and the subsequent consultation usually takes about 30 minutes. The analysis images can be printed out and taken home. After the treatment has been carried out (usually around 4 months later), another analysis is carried out to check the success of the treatment.

In order to achieve the best possible and lasting treatment results, it is therefore extremely useful to analyse the skin with the VISIA® camera beforehand.
