New inpatient treatments at Privatklinik Bethanien

At the beginning of October 2024, Klinik Pyramide am See relocated its operations to Privatklinik Bethanien on the Zürichberg. Both clinics belong to Swiss Medical Network. The reason: the previously used Ferro-Haus in Seefeld needs to be renovated.

The activities of the Pyramid Clinic will be integrated and continued at the Bethanien site. Both clinics belong to the private hospital group Swiss Medical Network. After the owner of the Pyramid Clinic property, Zürich Invest AG, announced that the building - after 60 years of use - would need to be renovated from 2025, a lengthy planning and project phase followed for the future continuation of the clinic's operations. The Ferro-Haus by star architect Justus Dahinden, which is now a listed building, is facing extensive and costly renovation work that will make it impossible to continue running the clinic on site.

Inpatient treatments now at Privatklinik Bethanien - outpatient treatments remain at our day clinic

All inpatient procedures, including those of the Plastic Surgery Pyramid, will be performed at the Bethanien site in future. All our outpatient treatments will be carried out in our newly renovated practice in the Haus zur Pyramide Medical Centre in our day clinic.

Relocation and remodelling of Privatklinik Bethanien

The amalgamation project and the relocation of the Pyramid Clinic were planned in detail over a long period of time. It is advantageous that both clinics work according to the same principles as contract hospitals in the affiliated doctor model. Over the past few years, numerous affiliated doctors have therefore hospitalised their patients at both locations. The management of both hospitals has also been working across both clinics since the beginning of the year, which facilitates the integration of staff in the various areas. Follow-up solutions have been found for the Pyramid staff and the majority of them are moving to Bethanien.

The amalgamation at the Bethanien site requires some investment in the infrastructure on the Bethanien Campus, which is being developed on an ongoing basis. In order to create space and modern structures, both an extension to the existing buildings and a completely new building are planned. Three projects have already been approved, additional surgeries have been realised on the top floor and further wards will be added in the coming months. With the expansion of the site, the technical platform of Privatklinik Bethanien will also be further modernised. Swiss Medical Network is investing substantially in the expansion of the Zürichberg site, which will be further boosted by the integration. By concentrating the activities of the two clinics at one location, the volume of operations at the Bethanien Campus will increase significantly. The higher case numbers will further improve medical quality and bring many benefits for patients, staff and doctors. In addition, significant cost reductions will be possible, particularly in rental and administrative expenses.

Thanks to the new infrastructure and the investments in the expansion of Privatklinik Bethanien, the interdisciplinary and comprehensive care of patients in various specialities will be further expanded while maintaining the same high quality. This will also create capacity at Privatklinik Bethanien for the admission of up to 1000 additional inpatient hospitalisations.
