Revision knee replacement

A total knee replacement (total knee prosthesis) is used when the collateral ligaments no longer function, the bone quality is insufficient (osteoporosis), or if there is significant malalignment of the knee (such as bow legs or knock knees). This model is also used when removing a loose artificial knee joint, i.e. in revision knee replacement. In a total knee replacement, the femoral component is connected to the tibial component. Therefore, the collateral ligaments are not required in this system.
