Liposuction (liposuction)
(Liposuction)
Liposuction, also known as fat removal, is a popular and very common surgical procedure that aims to remove excess fatty tissue from various parts of the body.
Liposuction is particularly useful if you have difficulty getting rid of localised fat deposits despite a healthy diet and regular exercise. Unwelcome fat deposits on the double chin, stomach, flanks (so-called love handles), hips and thighs (so-called saddlebags) or arms: Liposuction helps to improve contours and harmonise the silhouette.
Liposuction is also the most effective form of treatment for lipoedema.
We have mastered various liposuction techniques and use the finest instruments. We recommend combining liposuction with Renuvion® skin tightening to achieve an even better result.
Operation
On the day of the operation, you will arrive approximately 45 minutes before the procedure. You will be prepared for the upcoming procedure by the nursing staff and your doctors. This includes taking before pictures and marking the liposuction area.
In the first step, a specially formulated fluid is injected into the areas to be treated to prevent bleeding. The solid fatty tissue is softened and can be gently suctioned out using a fine liposuction cannula.
Liposuction does not always require a general anaesthetic. Liposuction under local anaesthesia, known as tumescent local anaesthesia, is a good alternative for smaller and localised procedures. The region to be treated is made insensitive to pain through the local injection of the tumescent solution.
The procedure takes one to three hours. The skin incisions are tiny and barely visible after a few months. The appropriate compression garment is put on immediately after the operation.
As liposuction is usually performed on an outpatient basis, you can leave our day clinic after just a few hours.
Aftercare
You can shower again on the first day after the operation. For optimum results, you should continue to wear the compression tights or compression girdle for at least three weeks during the day and at night, and for a fortnight in the case of liposuction under local anaesthetic. The first check-up takes place one week after the procedure.
In the first few weeks after liposuction, the treated areas may still be swollen. Most of the swelling will disappear within the first four weeks. Complete normalisation of the tissue takes three to six months. It therefore takes patience until the final result of liposuction is available and can be assessed.
As liposuction removes a large number of fat cells, the results can be expected to be long-lasting if the patient's weight remains stable.
Skin tightening with Renuvion®
Skin elasticity plays a decisive role in achieving a satisfactory result after liposuction. After the procedure, the skin must adapt to the reduced volume and regress accordingly.
We therefore recommend combining liposuction with the Renuvion® skin tightening method. This is an additional tightening treatment without a scalpel. The tissue can be tightened from the inside via the fine incisions that have already been opened for the insertion of the liposuction cannulas. Renuvion® combines helium gas and radiofrequency to create a plasma jet that stimulates collagen formation.

Surgical skin tightening and body lifts
If skin elasticity is very weak or there is a lot of excess skin (e.g. after severe weight loss or after several pregnancies), recovery is often only possible with additional surgical skin tightening, although this is associated with scarring. These are also known as lifts and range from localised tightening operations on the abdomen (e.g. tummy tuck) or upper arms and thighs to the buttocks and full body lifts. The latter are real all-round corrections that are normally only required after extreme weight loss.
