It is only possible to predict to a limited extent how long the wrinkle and contour correction will last, as it depends on the individual's predisposition, lifestyle, facial expressions and skin quality. In general, it can be assumed that the results will still be visible after ten years. Although the natural ageing process continues, the effect achieved by the facelift remains. In addition, the lift can be repeated if significant undesirable contour changes occur again at a later date due to the progressive ageing process.
Facelift
(Facelifting)
Lifting is a common facial operation in plastic and aesthetic surgery. It restores facial contours by lifting the sagging tissue. Procedures such as a face lift, eyebrow lift, neck lift or forehead lift can balance out disharmonies and rejuvenate the face.
With today's surgical techniques of serious aesthetic surgery, the aim is to achieve absolutely natural results. The grotesque, rightly criticised "mask faces" have long been a thing of the past when performed professionally.
The operation for a face and neck lift
On the day of your facelift, you will arrive at the clinic one and a half to two hours before the procedure. You will be prepared for the upcoming procedure by the nursing staff and your doctors. This includes taking "before" pictures and drawing in the future facial contours. An experienced anaesthetist will inform you about the planned general anaesthetic.
The facelift takes around three to four hours. Not only the upper layer of skin is lifted, but also the underlying connective tissue and muscles. Fine incisions are made along the hairline and around the ear to tighten the deeper tissue layer. The connective tissue muscle layer and the neck muscles are detached and tightened to a certain extent. Excess skin is then removed from sagging cheeks and loose neck tissue. The procedure can be combined with lipofilling to restore the lost volume.
The facelift requires a hospital stay of one to two nights. You should plan a two-week rest period after the procedure.
Aftercare for a face and neck lift
The head bandage is removed on the same day as the operation. You can carefully wash your hair again from the second day. The plasters and stitches are completely removed after about one to two weeks.
Unpleasant side effects such as a feeling of tension, swelling and bruising usually disappear after seven to ten days. After around three to four weeks, often sooner, the traces of the operation are largely healed.
Neck lift
The neck lift should be combined with a face lift, as otherwise the aesthetic result will not appear harmonious.
MACS face lift
(Minimal Access Cranial Suspension)
Translated, this means minimal access and vertical suspension. With the MACS face lift, the incision is limited to the area in front of the ear and the preparation is not quite as extensive as with the classic face-neck lift. The lift is performed using sutures that lift the sagging tissue vertically. This operation is often combined with a lower eyelid lift, as otherwise the skin could tighten here. The operation takes about 2.5 - 3 hours and can be performed on an outpatient basis. This operation is not suitable if there is too much excess skin on the neck. In this case we recommend a face-neck lift.
Eyebrow lift and forehead lift
Deeply sunken eyebrows and a wrinkled forehead can create an exhausted and sad facial expression. An eyebrow lift can bring the eyebrow back into the correct position. At the same time, wrinkled forehead skin can be tightened. The effect is a fresh, alert and rejuvenated appearance. The operation takes about 2.5 hours and can be performed on an outpatient basis.
