SCULPTRA®

A biostimulator to improve skin quality

Collagen is the most important protein for our youthful appearance. A strong collagen framework is therefore the basis for keeping the skin wrinkle-free and elastic for longer. For a long-term effect, the body's own collagen production must be stimulated again and again. A Sculptra treatment is suitable for this.

SCULPTRA® is not a filler (like hyaluronic acid) with an immediate effect, but a stimulant for the formation of new collagen. For this reason, it takes time for the final result to become visible.

SCULPTRA® consists of poly-L-lactic acid (PLA), a substance that has been used successfully for over 30 years in various areas of medicine and surgery. It has a good safety profile and is approved by the FDA.

Injecting the skin with SCULPTRA® leads to an improvement in skin quality (elasticity and density of the tissue), which can result in a tightening effect and rejuvenation of the skin.

The SCULPTRA® treatment

Treatment
The duration of treatment depends on the size of the area. Small areas are usually completed after just 30 minutes. For larger areas, the treatment takes up to 60 minutes.

Costs
All prices are per session

Face: from CHF 900
Body: areas from CHF 1,200

The treatment costs are largely determined by the amount of SCULPTRA® required. The larger the area to be treated, the greater the cost of the treatment and the amount of SCULPTRA® required

Frequently asked questions about SCULPTRA®

How many treatments are required?

Most SCULPTRA® patients are very satisfied with the results after 2 to 3 treatments. The treatments are carried out at intervals of four to six weeks.

In the first phase, the injected poly-L-lactic acid immediately fills the volume defects and wrinkles due to the water contained in the solution. Within a few days, the water in SCULPTRA® is absorbed by the body and the filling effect diminishes slightly. The first tightening effects are visible after 6 to 8 weeks.

Approximately 18-24 months after the build-up with SCULPTRA®, the natural ageing process slowly leads to a renewed loss of skin tone and elasticity. If desired, a refresher treatment with SCULPTRA® can be carried out at any time.

What are the risks, side effects and contraindications?

SCULPTRA® is characterised by very good tolerability. An allergy test is not necessary. There may be slight swelling and reddening of the skin in the first 24 hours after treatment. As with any injection, small haematomas may form at the injection sites.

When should I refrain from treatment with SCULPTRA®?

  • With a tendency to keloids or granulomas
  • With inflamed or infected skin (e.g. cold sores)
  • If taking medication to thin the blood (e.g. Aspirin, Marcoumar, Xarelto)
  • In the case of a systemic illness - autoimmune disease, diabetes, rheumatism, etc.
  • Pregnant women, nursing mothers or young people under the age of 18 are not treated
