Mrs Kathrin Verbeck (47) was operated on in November 2023 at the Pyramid Clinic by Prof Dr Mario Scaglioni.

She had traumatic lymphoedema on her right foot following an accident. This restricted her very much in her daily life, as she is a sporty person who moves a lot and wants to be active every day.

After the very successful operation on her lymphoedema, she can finally pursue her hobby of jogging again.

Dr Dorothée Rhein Straub (51) works as an emergency doctor and relies heavily on her hands and arms. A few months after her breast cancer operation, she developed lymphoedema in her right arm. She was operated on a short time later by Prof Scaglioni and received 6 bypasses during the first operation. At her personal request, further bypasses (LVA) were inserted in a second operation.

5 years later, there is no longer any sign of the severe swelling that was present at the time. She is able to work as a doctor again.

The health insurance company initially refused to pay for these operations. After an initial defeat at the cantonal court, she took the case to the Federal Supreme Court, which ruled in her favour! This is a milestone for all future lymphoedema patients.

Mrs Rätia Loosli (79) underwent surgery for her breast cancer diagnosis in 2008 and developed lymphoedema in her right arm shortly afterwards. On the recommendation of her gynaecologist, she came to Prof. Scaglioni 8 years later, who operated on her very successfully in June 2016. She had an excellent healing phase and is now able to carry out all her activities again without any complaints.
