Get a second opinion

FOR EXTRA CERTAINTY

If you’re concerned about whether the treatment recommended by a doctor is really the best option, a second opinion can provide you with extra certainty. An additional assessment, taking into account all available treatment methods, helps ensure that you can be treated in the best possible way.

WHEN IS A SECOND OPINION USEFUL?

Obtaining a second opinion is recommended in the following situations in particular:

  • There is any uncertainty, concern or lack of trust
  • For an independent assessment of your condition by a specialist
  • There is no clear diagnosis and/or recommended treatment
  • You have been recommended a major procedure and you want to make sure that there are no alternatives
  • You do not have enough information or testimonials about a treatment that has been recommended.

See the article on second opinions in the CSS customer magazine with Dr Andreas Oberholzer (in German).

EXPERIENCED SPECIALISTS ARE HERE TO HELP

The specialists at the Pyramid Clinic can give you the best possible personalised advice based on their many years of experience. An experienced specialist in the relevant field (knee, hip, foot, shoulder, elbow or hand) will assess your situation and the proposed treatment and ask you about your needs and preferences. This is followed by a detailed examination of the painful area. The documents that you bring as well as any x-rays or MRI images are also studied. This is followed by a detailed consultation with an assessment of the situation and discussion of possible conservative therapies (without surgery), as well as any forms of surgical treatment, with their advantages and disadvantages. Additional investigations may be recommended to better assess the situation.

For Swiss patients, the costs for a second opinion are charged via your basic insurance coverage.
