Leo Clodius Lymphatic Center (LCLC)

The LEO CLODIUS LYMPHATIC CENTER specialises in the treatment of lymphatic conditions and is part of the Plastic Surgery department at the Pyramid Clinic, which has been providing high-quality services in the field of plastic surgery for 30 years.

A team of highly regarded and experienced specialists practices at our centre. The centre also has state-of-the-art infrastructure and uses leading-edge technologies.

HOLISTIC TREATMENT MODEL

We place great importance on a holistic treatment model that takes into account not only the physical aspects of health, but also the emotional and psychological well-being of our patients. At our centre, patients are cared for personally, step by step from diagnosis through to either conservative or surgical treatment.

THE DIAGNOSTIC TEAM

We work closely with radiologists and angiologists who can perform a wide range of investigations, including TC-99m lymphoscintigraphy and MR lymphangiography. Vascular surgeons are also brought into the patient care team if required.

USE OF MICROSURGICAL PROCEDURES

We can offer all possible treatments in this surgical field, based on the latest scientific findings, with a particular focus on microsurgical procedures.

Treatments include:

• Lymphovenous anastomosis (LVA)
• Vascularised lymph node transfer (VLNT)
• Vascularised lymphatic vessel transfer (VLVT)
• Combined treatments with liposuction and debulking procedures

Lymphoedema

Lymphoedema can occur congenitally (= primary) or as a result of another condition (= secondary). Lymphoedema can develop as a side effect of cancer treatment (iatrogenic).

Studies have shown that the LYMPHA technique can effectively reduce the risk of developing lymphoedema. The procedure significantly improves patients’ quality of life.

INTERDISCIPLINARY COLLABORATION FOR MAXIMUM RESULTS

During the individual treatment phases, patients are always supported by physiotherapists who specialise in the treatment of lymphatic conditions.

Other specialists such as endocrinologists, internal medicine specialists or nutritionists can be brought onto the team to address specific patient needs and identify the best possible treatment approach.

RESEARCH AND TRAINING

Our centre is heavily involved in research and training. Various research projects and clinical studies have been initiated and monitored here. The resulting findings have been made available to the medical community.

PATRONS OF THE LYMPHOEDEMA ASSOCIATION

The Lymphoedema Association Switzerland is a patient organisation founded in 2016 by people with lymphoedema for people with lymphoedema. The association supports people affected by the condition.
